Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting 36 points Norris, was classified in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before rotating through the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
